Allspice

The allspice must flow! Meet the multi-tasker of the spice world.

Allspice does a bunch of great things and it totally tastes like more than one flavor. I call it my magic multi-tasker. Boy oh boy, does it bring the flavor to my sweet-hot botanical sauces. It’s pungent and aromatic with a fragrance that reminds me of nutmeg, clove, ginger and cinnamon. It brings a sweetly pungent warmth with mildly peppery overtones. Can one spice do all that? Yep. Allspice has it ALL. It even has subtle hints of juniper and peppercorn and a little zip of heat. It comes from the unripe berries of evergreen trees which were indigenous to the lush rainforests of Central and South America. Today, some say the finest allspice comes from Jamaica. Sounds pretty chill to me. And you got to love this: it can ease digestion and delivers a wonderful anti-inflammatory high-five. Woo-hoo!

"How do I choose flavors? I really don’t know. I started off with apricot because I like apricots. Then it becomes a game to see what other fruits would work. My wife likes strawberries, so I did some strawberry. It just comes to me."
