Happy Chanukah!

When we were kids, Chanukah was spelled "Chanukah" not "Hanukkah," of course, when we were kids, part of the fun was pronouncing it with a hard "ch" like we were clearing our throats.

One of the traditional foods over the 8 days of Chanukah is potato latkes (pancakes). Standard fare with potato latkes was either sour cream or applesauce.

I am a big fan of potatoes in any form, but potato with sour cream is pretty bland.

Bacon bits were out of the question because bacon isn't kosher and you can't mix meat and dairy products. I won't say that I created my sauce just for latkes, but it sure does spice them up. I think my favorite sauce for latkes is Tannenbaum’s Blueberry, Sumac, and Cinnamon. I would suggest using it as a topping as opposed to adding it to the potato and onion mixture, unless you really want to have blue latkes.

Tell me how you Tanny!

"How do I choose flavors? I really don’t know. I started off with apricot because I like apricots. Then it becomes a game to see what other fruits would work. My wife likes strawberries, so I did some strawberry. It just comes to me."
